The base application takes advantage of advanced biometric technologies - such as fingerprints, iris, and facial identification - to provide safe and contactless identity verification to the residents of India. India's Unique Identification Authority (UIDAI) enables uninterrupted authentication by integrating with infrastructure, to ensure high accuracy and reliability, using Aadhaar credentials. Through the use of face authentication, users can recognize their identity remotely without the requirement of physical documents, while fingerprints and iris scans provide additional biometrics for multitary verification. This system supports various government and private services, increasing efficiency, access and user privacy through encrypted and consent-based data sharing.Â
The Aadhaar Samvad application integrates face authentication to streamline identity verification, eliminating the requirement of the physical Aadhaar card or photocopy. It is mentioned here how the face authentication process works within the app
Initiation: When a service provider ( hotel, bank, airport) requires identity verification, they display a QR code. User is required to download aadhaar app and required to start process of QR code scan at designated outlet to start process.
Scanning the QR Code: User need to open the Aadhaar Samvaad app on smartphone and scan the provided QR code. This is just like our regular QR code process which we follow to scan any QR code. Smartphone is required to scan this QR code.Â
Face Authentication: Using your phone's front camera, the app captures your facial image. It may prompt you to perform a simple action, like blinking, to confirm liveness. Using camera itself user required to provide his consent for capturing of the face. After sucessful capture live image is sent for matching purpose.
Verification: The captured facial image is securely matched with the photograph stored in the UIDAI database associated with your Aadhaar number. Verification is done at server end and accordingly further response will be sent to users phone application.
Confirmation: Upon successful verification, the app confirms your identity to the service provider without sharing your full Aadhaar number or unnecessary personal details. Thus this is the secured way using which user can be authenticated without reveling any of his personal details. Only user name will be displayed upon successful authentication.Â
User Consent: Data is shared only after providing clear consensus to data, increasing privacy and controlling personal informationÂ
No Physical Documents Needed: Eliminates the need to carry or submit physical copies of your Aadhaar card.
Secure and Encrypted: All data transmissions are encrypted, ensuring secure communication between your device and UIDAI serversÂ
Ease of Use: The process is designed to be user-friendly, akin to scanning a QR code for UPI paymentsÂ
